July has been officially designated as Texas Fibroid Awareness Month!
The prevalence of uterine fibroids presents a considerable health obstacle for women of all races. Those with fibroids frequently suffer from pelvic pain, frequent urination, anemia, infertility, miscarriage, and heavy menstrual bleeding. Despite its widespread occurrence, uterine fibroids are underfunded and under-discussed in the medical community, leaving women with limited options for treatment.
To encourage women to speak with their OB/GYN about getting an updated screening for uterine fibroids and the best treatment options to protect their health, we are offering a Self-Care Forum.
The Barbara Jordan Leadership Institute is coordinating this event with the support of the Fibroid Institute, I Am HER, Pearls and Promises, and community leaders. The event is FREE for guests to attend.
We especially encourage Black women, Black mothers, women of color, mothers of color, and daughters to join us for this important intergenerational conversation. Whether you’re navigating fibroids yourself, supporting a loved one, or simply want to learn more, this event is for you.
